Talk:HCI-CSCL: Textbook Journal
From VMT
I have a question about the final textbook journal and the textbook journal. My first impression was that we should be responding to the text and recording our thoughts. But in final textbook journal it seems like we are supposed to be evaluating the text itself. Are the textbook journal and final textbook journal two different documents? I currently have a paper notebook with the notes that I have taken as I read- should I include these in either journals. I guess I lost my focus. Please help me get it back. Many Thanks. I have these same questions... I think an example of what a sample textbook journal/entry would look like would be very helpful. Thanks. Mgribbin 13:29, 5 April 2008 (EDT)
- The textbook journal is mainly intended for your own benefit. An important portion of your grade will be based on your reflection papers. We expect you to write these papers in the light of textbook chapters, additional reading materials, and what you have been doing in your groups. Therefore, the notes that you take as you are reading the textbook will prove to be a valuable resource when you will be writing your reflection papers. You can take a look at the textbook journals submitted by students who took this course earlier to get an idea about what we are expecting. Here is the link. So far I have read numerous complaints about the online environment we are using and about the format of this class, but I think this link nicely illustrates the value of going through all this trouble: everything is persistent in the VMT environment and can serve as a resource for future classes. However, please take these as resources, as something to build upon (with appropriate references to materials posted by others if you choose to use them).Murat 22:31, 5 April 2008 (EDT)
