You are a college student looking for reading material on nutrition. You have no real prior knowledge on the topic and want to find a resource that gives you a basic introduction. You're logged into the IPL and search for books about nutrition. You find a book that interests you and want to add it to your Bookshelf for later reference. After adding the book to your shelf, you decide that a few of your nutrition-savvy friends might also find this book useful, so you recommend it to them.
Step 1: You reach the 'Book Search' page by clicking on the link at the bottom of the left pane of the IPL website
Step 2: You enter 'Nutrition' in the text field and click on 'SEARCH'
Step 3: The system displays book results for your search on 'Nutrition'
Step 4: You select the book 'Nutrition for Dummies' by Carol Ann Rizler and you are then taken to the 'Book Information' page for that book. You can now add the book to your bookshelf by clicking on the 'Add to Bookshelf (+)' link
Step 5: The system pops a notification box once the book is added to your bookshelf
Step 6: You reach the 'Book Information' page after closing the notification box

Scenario: Jack is an individual who keeps up with current issues. He enjoys participating in discussions about a variety of issues that are present in our society. He uses the internet as a portal for finding literature and articles about issues he is interested in. Jack would like to hear what others like him are talking about, and so he turns to the IPL to achieve this goal. Jack has logged into the Internet Public Library using his personal IPL account. Once logged in, he is taken to the IPL.org homepage. Jack would like to conduct a search of the IPL to see what content is currently available about the topic Global Warming.
Step 1: Jack is immediately shown the IPL homepage after logging in.
Step 2: Jack types in "Global Warming" into the IPL search in the center of the homepage. He leaves the content type filter drop-down menu on "all," and he clicks the "Search" button.
Step 3: The search results are displayed in an extra tab. This way, Jack does not have to navigate back to the content again and has the freedom to always use the search when needed without any loss of his current content view. The tabs remain atop the window, so Jack can browse the IPL and use the tabs at any time. The results are categorized by the topic they appear in. Next Jack selects a discussion board item that he feels is interesting so he clicks “Is global warming a serious issue?” under the Discussion Board results.
Step 4: The selected Discussion Board is shown in the first(content) tab while the search results are still accessible over the search tab for further use. Jack wants to post his opinion, and so he clicks the “Reply to the Discussion” button.
Step 5: Jack is immediately shown a text field. He types his response and clicks the “Post reply to Discussion” button.
Step 6: Jack is taken back to the Discussion Board, and now sees that his response is added to the existing posts. Satisfied, Jack decides that he would like to review other search results and selects the search tab again.
Step 7: Jack is now free to click on any other link, which would then load in the first tab.
Step 8 At this point, however, Jack decides that he would like to conduct a new search. This time, he would like to find IPL content pertaining to the 2008 Presidential Election. Jack types in "2008 Presidential Election" in the search box that is present in the top of the page, and he clicks "Search."
Step 9: A new Search results tab appears and becomes the active tab on the page. Jack can now browse through the various content types in this new search.
