Collaboration and Dynamic Mathematics in Middle and High Schools

Online professional development courses for middle and secondary mathematics teachers focusing on supporting student collaboration and problem solving using dynamic-mathematics software.

Including online collaborative activities for groups of students with multi-user GeoGebra for geometry and algebra.

 

Enrollment options:

  • Full graduate credit at Drexel University (Drexel tuition, reduced online rate)
  • Full graduate credit at Rutgers University (Rutgers tuition, reduced rate)
  • Certificate (CEUs) from Drexel University ($149)

Course 1: In-service Professional Development in Collaboration and Dynamic Mathematics in Middle and High Schools.

10 weeks. September 24 - December 8, 2012. 3 credit-hours (optional).

Stipend conditions: Upon completion of all course assignments (including putting into place a plan for teaching sessions of collaborative dynamic math with VMTwG) and a course grade of B or better, a stipend of $500.

 

Course 2: Field Work in Collaboration and Dynamic Mathematics in Middle and High Schools.

10 weeks. January 7 - March 18, 2013. 3 credit-hours (optional).

Stipend conditions:

Facilitate at least 2-3 groups of 3-5 students at your school for 8-10 one-hour online sessions of geometry and/or algebra using VMTwG, a stipend of $1,000.

Facilitate at least 2-3 groups of 3-5 students at your school for 4-5 one-hour online sessions of geometry and/or algebra using VMTwG, a stipend of $500.

Also, valuable prizes for students in the "most collaborative" groups.
